Short Summary: On the 4th of February, 2006, Patricia Heras (32 at the time) went out with a friend and both were coming back home. They were cycling but had an accident and ended up with some cuts and bruises. An ambulance was called, which took them to Hospital del Mar. While her friend was being taken care of, Patricia was waiting for him. There were a lot of people in the emergency room because a few hours before, a police officer from the Guardia Urbana had been gravely injured by a falling pot, during a raid to an okupa party, which ended up with 9 people being detained, some of which injured in some weird circumstances (revealed later on to be due to police torture). The police officer was in a comma, and in very serious condition. In the midst of the situation, some other officers from Guardia Urbana noticed Patricia Heras sitting in the emergency room and ended up arresting her and her friend. Patricia and a few others faced trial, where the police accused Heras of being involved on a subsequent fight, that would've happened after the police officer was injured. She ended up being sentenced to 3 years in prison, in a semi-opened regime. She ended up commiting suicide during one of those outings, by jumping out a window. It was later revealed that the police manipulated a lot of evidence such as, for example, making her bicycle (a key piece of evidence of the veracity of Heras' account) disappear. It was also revealed that Patricia was targeted due to her appearence matching what the police called "okupa aesthetic". Patricia kept a blog while in jail, which can be read here.
