Short Summary: Ebony Smith was crowned prom queen at her school, North Shore Senior High. Later on, the Galena Park Independent School District shared a picture of her online, where Ebony´s hair had been sloppily photoshopped to look brown instead of purple. The school district later apologized, blamed a "mistake" and posted a black and white picture of Ebony instead. The district´s students handbook doesn´t allow for colored hair, as it could be a "distraction in a learning environment" but Ebony had already agreed to dye it back to a "natural" color, as she had dyed it specifically for homecoming.

Their mohawks were shaven, the women's hair was cut and their clothes were burned. They were made to pray and take communal baths. A police spokesperson says that this was done for their own good, also saying "(...) We are re-educating them so they don't shame their parents." . This was the second time the punks were a target of "intervention".
